“Take a chill pill Ma”, protested 17-year-old Alisha, as Aarti stood aghast, looking at her daughter’s hair-bun, atop shaved sides. They were leaving for a grand sangeet function.
Amidst shock, disbelief, secret criticisms and people freaking out at her “ugly” look, calling her sick, Aarti stepped on-stage announcing:
“Presenting the most fashionable, singing sensation Alisha, a genius at her craft, performing predominantly at charity events. She might look weird, but then style can be androgynous, fluid, unbound to norms, assertive of someone’s individuality.”.
A huge round of applause followed.
Alisha smilingly began at the mic, “Love you my sweetest supermom”.
